Sayre Enterprises offers two 1st shift options: 4- 10 hour days, Monday-Thursday, 6AM-4:30PM OR 5- 8 hour days, Monday-Friday, 7AM-3:30PM. JOB TITLE: Merrow Machine Operator DEPARTMENT: Sewing Department REPORTS TO: Sewing Department Manager SUMMARY: The merrow machine operator is responsible for operating a single-head merrow machine to sew a merrowed border around patches as part of the production process. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: --- Ability to draw thread through guides, tensions, and needles and adjust tensions, threads, and bobbins according to fabric type. --- Ability to center material to prepare for processing on sewing machine. --- Ability to observe sewing operations to detect defects in stitching that indicate machine malfunction and notify supervisor of malfunction. --- Must be dependable and self-motivated with a positive attitude. --- Ability to work independently with little supervision and communicate well with supervisor and team leaders. --- Ability to maintain speed and efficiency and be fully committed to excellent customer service. --- Ability to maintain department production demand numbers. --- Ability to accurately count and follow written or verbal directions. --- Pay attention to the quality of both the starting product and the finished product. --- Continually utilize visual awareness to operate equipment, read information, and have discernment for colors and detail. --- Perform other duties as assigned by management. QUALIFICATIONS: --- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. --- Manufacturing experience preferred but not required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: --- Continually required to sit (8-10 hours per day and up to 4 hours overtime as needed) --- Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity. --- Continually required to talk, hear and visually see and focus on items during production process, including but not limited to color, peripheral and depth perception and adjust focus. --- Must be able to lift or move up to 30lbs.
